Judy Young is the award-winning author of several children’s poetry, fiction and nonfiction. R is for Rhyme, A Poetry Alphabet received the 2008 Mom’s Choice Gold Award, 2006 National Parenting Publications Honor Award 2006 Missouri Writers’ Guild Best Juvenile Book Award, a starred review in Kirkus Review was selected by the Tanner Creative Dance Program of the University of Utah for their 58th annual performance in 2007. The Lucky Star received a 2009 Storytelling Honor Award, and was chosen as a Top Five Book by Rutgers University, and her first book, S is for Show Me, A Missouri Alphabet was selected to represent Missouri at the 2008 National Book Festival in Washington, DC. Judy also wrote Minnow and Rose, H is for Hook, A Fishing Alphabet, Lazy Days of Summer and Show Me the Number, A Missouri Number Book. After twenty years experience in the public schools Judy now writes full time and has spoken at schools and educational conferences in 18 different states. Judy lives in Springfield, Missouri, with her husband, Ross, a professional artist who illustrated he Show Me books. Judy’s books will be available for purchase and she will gladly autograph them. Minnow and Rose
(Sleeping Bear Press) has just been released! Set on the Oregon Trail and featuring a dangerous and dramatic river crossing, two girls, one a native American and the other a pioneer, are first drawn together by their curiosity toward each other, but soon learn they have much in common and that friendship can be stronger than cultural differences.

The Lucky Star (Sleeping Bear Press, May 2008) received a 2009 Storytelling World Honor Award for Pre-Adolescent Listeners and will be featured in the April 2009 issue of Storytelling World/Storytelling Magazine. When ten-year-old Ruth's school closes due to the Great Depression, she feels the last lucky star in her sky has burned out, but with perseverence and determination, she finds she can be a lucky star for others.
